Ernest Hemmingway said, “The only kind of writing is rewriting.” Or maybe he didn’t. I just looked it up. It could be a false quote, but I wanted to write this blog post and not waste time verifying the quote.

Anyway, the point is, my book, The Scandalous Presidency of Barack Obama, is done. Okay, well, the first draft is. My first draft. I still have 38 days to submit the manuscript to Bombardier Books, and while it is “done” it is not ready.  Over the next two weeks, I’ll be editing what I’ve written. This process involves proofreading, cleaning things up, making last minute tweaks and additions to the text. As much as I am totally ready to hand this book off and be done with it, there’s still work to be done before it’ll be in an acceptable state for me to hand it off.  I’m not doing this entirely on my own, a trusted beta reader is tackling this part of the process with me. It’s always best to have another set of eyes on your written work, and I’ll feel far more comfortable after this process for the manuscript to be taken off my hands.

I did take a couple of days off after the initial writing was complete to refresh, recharge, and spend some relaxing summer fun with the family. Up to this point, the writing process has consumed most of my evenings and big chunks of my weekends, but, now, I plan to incorporate more leisure time into my schedule, including getting back into running. I’ve usually logged a lot more miles at this point in the year, but now I’ll be able to hit the pavement again. I’m looking forward to it!

Anyway, be sure to sign up for my newsletter to get updates on the bookas well as my Facebook page.
